Yael Schoultz, D.Min., is the Founder and Director of L'Chaim NGO which reaches out to women engaged in the sex industry. Originally from South Africa, she moved to the Czech Republic in 2011 to start her PhD studies and later completed a D.Min. focused on anti-trafficking training curriculum that is faithful to the embodied encounters of volunteers and sex industry workers.
She has been visiting women in prostitution in the Czech republic since 2011. She has collaborated with various organisations with regards to anti-trafficking work, including La Strada, Amnesty International, the European Freedom Network, The National Freedom Network (of South Africa), to name a few. She regularly gives awareness talks on modern slavery and forced prostitution, and has done so in South Africa, the USA, and all around the Czech Republic.
She is an expert in the field of anti-human trafficking and is currently writing a book on the topic with a specific focus on the Czech republic. When not engaged in anti-trafficking work she is usually engaged in activities at her local synagogue or travelling.
Mathy Sane is a dedicated advocate for women's rights and education, with a background in teaching and activism. Since earning her certification as a Teacher of Life Sciences in 2011, she has worked tirelessly to combat issues such as female genital mutilation and early pregnancy, while also advocating for girls' education.
In 2014, she moved to the Czech Republic, where she continued her advocacy work focusing on women's and girls' rights, diversity, and inclusion.
Mathy's commitment led her to become a certified Peace Educator, using education as a tool for social change. She is also an active member of the Community of Practice Women in Security Sector (COWPASS), working to promote gender equality within the security sector.
With her expertise and passion, Mathy continues to make significant contributions to the advancement of women's rights and social justice globally.
Chené Roux, PhD. has a background in Industrial Psychology and about ten years of dedicated service in the field of human resources; as such, she understands the intricate dynamics of human behaviour and organizational structures and possesses a deep commitment to humanitarian causes, following a holistic approach. She relocated to Czechia in 2023 and is eager to lend her skills and passion to various volunteer initiatives including, but not limited to, anti-human trafficking efforts.
Camelia Radu is from Romania and understands the situation of Romanian trafficked women very well. She has been engaged in anti-trafficking efforts since 2015, including but not limited to activities such as public speaking and awareness campaigns, as well as leading an anti-trafficking training group for the organisation. She remains steadfast in her commitment to raising awareness.
Natalie Miller studied Humanitarian Affairs at university and has volunteered with various non-profit organizations across North America and Europe. While studying, Natalie focused many of her research projects on human trafficking, and anti-human trafficking efforts around the world.
As part of L’Chaim, Natalie has contributed her content creation skills toward drafting iterations of the organization’s logo. She uses her marketing background to find routes to spread the word about L’Chaim’s work in the Prague community.
Koen is a Dutch fiscal economy college graduate, who has been living in Prague for 7 years and who was involved in the establishment of L'Chaim together with Dr. Yael Schoultz.
He has completed the L'Chaim training programme, has accompanied the team on brothel visits, waiting outside to ensure team member's safety and well-being, and has taken part in creative arts and crafts events to make small handmade gifts for those working in sex industry establishments.
As an active Toastmaster for over 10 years he contributed with presentations on the topic of human trafficking, for example at Amnesty International. He works closely with Dr. Schoultz in the running of the NGO.
Bobby is a registered nurse/social worker originally from Australia and now lives permanently in Prague. After completing her studies she worked in the acute health care sector namely in hospital settings such as ICU, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Drug and Alcohol to name a few.
After deciding to leave the acute care sector she moved into the community care sector where she worked with drug and alcohol patients both in rehab facilities and on the street.
Whilst working with these people she moved into working in a drop in centre specifically for street sex workers where a safe haven was provided to them 24/7.
Here they were able to undergo STD tests, blood tests for infectious disease, drug and alcohol counselling or just chill with their peers and the workers to name just a few of the services provided. During this time she also worked as a nurse at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre which provides free sexual health services. Here sex workers could undergo counselling and health testing, treatment etc.
Since moving to Prague Bobby has continued to be involved in working with these people and has now moved into anti-trafficking work too.
Mariia Antsiferova has been a member of L’Chaim for a few years now. After completing a training course program and having the assessment done, she started working on outreaches, visiting women engaged in sex-work.
After her relocation she has switched from terrain work to leading the training course for future volunteers and people interested in the topic of anti human-trafficking initiatives and efforts in Europe.
At the moment she keeps sharing her anti trafficking volunteering experience.
